Why I Want A Seat At The Workshop Experience

I think it's pretty obvious considering the sad state of this blog that's been "under construction" since........2010. Yeah, about that. :) Anyway, let's get to the "why". Two years ago I decided to take the plunge and see if I could take my interest anywhere. All the official paperwork was done, I was ready to take on the world. I was motivated, eager to learn. I did pretty well that 1st year for a new kid taking baby steps into this world of photography.

Towards the end of that year my focus shifted slightly, Allen and I were trying to start a family and it was becoming more and more apparent that we were going to need help. We were quickly blessed with our miracle thanks to the amazing team at the New Hope Center and began the year on pins and needles....along with lots of nausea ;) Year 2 I was shifting more and more into growing and preparing for baby and photography slowly got farther away.

A fabulous birth......

.....and a precious baby girl!!

I was over the moon to have been able to attend Justin & Mary's Walk Through A Wedding last March, I was excited and quitely tucked away lots of juicy little tidbits for after baby arrived. I had a wonderful time with Katelyn and Sharon and of course Justin, Mary and J2!

This brings brings me into year 3 and now that Brynden is almost 5 months old (holy crap!) Im still stuck. Im in a rutt, Ive devoted everything to starting a family, growing a baby and being a new mom. I need a jump start, motivation, inspiration....a spark. I know that Katelyn can give me that and Im ready for it!!

So I know, I've been neglecting the blog again. It's hard. Anyways, I figured I'd jump back with IheartFaces Week 13 Challenge: Dramatic Black & White. I clicked through pictures and clicked through pictures and clicked through pictures. Finally, I decided on this one. I know, I've been bad. Like really bad. I promise I'm getting myself back on track, starting with today's post.

I'd like everyone to meet Marissa and Chris. We met up in Smithfield to document a SUPER exciting time in their lives. There's a baby on the way!! They were just too cute with eachother and laughed the entire time. I can't wait to meet the new addition to the Spady family in just a few short months.

So excited the rain held off for us!

Outer Banks Adventure

Wednesday Mom and I went on an adventure. We made the drive down to Nags Head to set-up things with the Hilton for her wedding! It's officially booked for June 5th at 11am! We rode around in the yuck weather and even got her linens rented. After we got done we stopped by Uncle Pat's for a quick vist and headed home.......I cant wait for the summer to get here, Obx is one of my FAV places! Heres a look at our day...

We hit Cracker Barrel for breakfast

We had some time to kill before our appointment so I stopped at the Avalon Pier to check out the ocean. It was like 3 degrees and this fool actually got in the ocean!

We hit Five Guys on the way home....our absolute fav place to eat! Mom has to act crazy...I cant take her anywhere!

You cant eat the fries without malt vinager on top of your ketchup.

About a month ago you saw Jessica's maternity shoot on here. Well it's time for you meet the precious baby girl! Kendall arrived February 4th, looking just like her daddy! She battled a nasty case of jaundice and we finally got to do her pictures a few days ago. Enjoy!

So Sweet...I couldn't get over how tiny she is!

Today was pretty much a lazy day. I did two webinars and washed the dishes, big accomplishment for me.

I detest the dishes.

I walked to the bedroom to check up on my meows and I just couln't resist. They were just being soo stinking cute! Even though the boys have only been with me a few months they've learned to love the camera. These guys make me happy, my heart melts for all the purrs and headbutts and licks.

Meet Shy Kitty, or The Bandit as my husband has TRIED to rename him. They actually sleep under the bed like this. lol

You know cats are supposed to be all graceful and light on their feet.....not these two. They are the clumsiest and heavy footed things I have ever seen. Like you can hear them walk, just walking.

He's so goofy and bow legged you can't help but love him!

And my Princess, Nyla Ann.

She may be small, but believe me, she runs the show.

She may be my baby, but she LOVES her daddy and he LOVES her even if he'll only say "she's ok"

A Wedding In The Works...

As Allen and I were just finishing getting the furniture together in our guest room the Berry dings to me. I head into the living room and see "Mom" on the screen.

I click open the message, a picture, "I said yes!"

Wait..........WHAT!?!......I look at the picture again.....and sure enough it's what I thought it was!

So I am now planning a wedding, didn't I just do this? lol We're thinking June on the beach, a small "just us" kinda thing. I told her I thought I knew an awsome photographer I could hook them up with. ;)

Internet, I'd like you to meet my Mom and soon-to-be Step-Dad, Thom. I took these at Coquina Beach just a few days before my wedding. I heart the beach, OBX I can't wait for summer!

Snow Days

So it's about time for an update, huh? Well, it doesn't happen very often here in Virginia......Folks, it snowed! And it snowed A LOT....for here anyway lol So Sunday when the sun came out so did we. Its official...my cats do NOT like snow, as soon as their little paws hit the front yard they were back on the steps screaming to be let in the house. These are the times I wish I had a dog to play outside with.

But, on with the fun! This is how rednecks have snow days....and few pretty shots before all the fun. :)

Banquets & Birthdays

Whew! This past weekend was super busy, we had our annual Fire Banquet Saturday and I shot a 1st birthday on Sunday.

The banquet was wonderful, we ate and danced and honored the members of Hunterdale and Franklin. It was a good night. :)

Wow, I dont even know where to begin. Allen and I get home from buying a new refridgerator and I go to checking my various areas of the web, I remember it's Saturday......iheartfaces day.

I click on over to the blog and see 7 comments, hmm, a new one. "Congratulations on placing this week!" Wait.....WHAT?!?! O.M.G......I click over....the computer not loading fast enough, scrolling down like a mad woman, and there it is........Audrey Woulard had picked this photo as her 8th place.

People I am on cloud nine. This is the highlight of my week.......no make that my year!

I meet the Greene's today after Ashley contacted me a few weeks ago. I clicked on over to her FB page.......FLORIDA! What?! It turns out that they would be up visiting family this week and picked me to take their pictures, all the way from Florida. They were a pleasure to work with today and little David is absolutely precious! I wish I had just a quarter of his energy. :)

It's Almost Baby Time!

Well folks, here it is! After several reschedulings due to our lovely Virginia weather we FINALLY got a beautiful day to document this very special moment in Chris and Jessica's lives. Chris and I go back to diaper days running around the fire station with our dads and Jessica's mom is the ONLY person I will let touch my hair. lol So, I was super happy to be a part of this stage of their lives. Miss Kendall Carr is due in just 2 weeks! She could literally come any time now........so enjoy Jessica's maternity session and stay tuned to meet the baby girl VERY soon!

Can't wait for her to get here so we can do the matching shot to this one!

When It Rains It Pours....

So I had hoped that this post would be all about getting my business license and being all official. I got it, I'm all official, but before I could I get it on here disaster struck. Dun dun duunn.......I came home super excited to document my accomplishment, I traipse on outside to get a nice glowy sunset pic of a little blue piece of paper....camera will not focus....panic. This is all my fault, I dropped it...cringe...a few days ago, from my big jacked up redneck truck. I panic, as I have a shoot on Friday, no time to have it fixed. Husband to the rescue, he just walks in and says, " you need a better one anyway". I'm in shock, getting a new camera right now was not in the plan. I go with it and now am the proud owner of a Canon 7D and I love it. It's not my 5D MkII, but you gotta work your way up, right? Something to look forward to. If only this were the end of my woes. The laptop is finally on its last leg, as if we didn't just spent enough money, a new computer will join the family in the next day or so. So, you know how they say "when it rains, it pours".......

Now that I've had my rant, here's a peak at how I usually spend my Wednesday nights and the 7D's first outing!

The Beginning

So, I've had the blog a few days now and I've been contemplating a first post. I thought I would start with getting my business license today, but that was a fail. Then, while blogstalking some of my favorites I came across iheartfaces. It's their birthday, so I figured entering this weeks contest would be a great start to my blog!
